The Hollywood International Diversity Film Festival was founded with the goal of providing a platform for independent film by and about women and the many different cultures in the world.
Each season culminates with a screening event and awards presentations in the heart of Hollywood,
celebrating and spotlighting stories of women and the diverse cultures found right here in Southern California
and around the world.
What kinds of material do you accept?
We consider feature films, short films, New Media/TV episodes, music videos, screenplays, short screenplays,
and documentaries with an emphasis on unique gender and multi-cultural perspectives.
What kinds of material do you accept?
We accept drama, action, sci-fi, horror/thriller, musical, comedy, animation and any other material of
any genre.
Can I submit more than one film or episode?
Yes, you may submit as many films as you feel to be a good fit for our event.
Can I submit a work-in-progress?
Yes. However, please make it clear on your submission information that it's a work in progress.
It's your responsibility to have a completed version of your material ready by the event date if your
submission is chosen to be an official selection.
Do I retain the rights to the material I submit?
Yes. HIDF does not claim any rights in your material. If your submission is ultimately chosen as an
official selection, your project may be shared with producers, agents/managers, distributors, and/or
other industry professionals in Hollywood to consider you or your work. This process is intended entirely
to help you gain exposure within the industry (and be considered for representation if you're not already
represented) but no rights would change hands without your agreement.
(If your work is chosen to screen at our event, we may also use clips or screenshots of your film
in promotional materials for the event. If you would like to opt out of this or retract your submission at
any time for any reason, please contact support.)
If I gain representation, distribution, or make a sale to a producer, do you keep a percentage?
No. The HIDFF does not participate in any deals between you and any producers, agents/managers, distributors or
any other industry professionals you may deal with following your participation in our event. Any such deals
are between you (or the original owner of the material if that's not yourself) and the industry professional.
Does my film have to be in English?
The primary audio track of your film (or other video-based material) may be in any language but if understanding the
language spoken by a character is integral to the plot and general appreciation of the film, then if the main language
is not English, then English subtitles are required in both your submission copy and the version for screening (if
your film is selected.)
